Green flag given to begin Isla Mujeres residential road rehabilitation project

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A road maintenance program for island roadways has been given the green light. Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde says transforming Isla Mujeres into a prosperous municipality that generates shared well-being and social justice is a priority.

The program began Tuesday that will see a majority of the island’s streets revamped.

“Building, conserving and rehabilitating the streets is a priority since vehicular accidents and difficulties in transfers can be prevented,” said Gómez Ricalde from the Caridad del Cobre neighborhood during the iniation of the program.

Rosalva Carrillo Zárate, the Director of Isla Mujeres Public Works, explained that the maintenance and rehabilitation of the roads will be carried out in several areas that include Salina Chica, Meteorológico, Caridad del Cobre, Ampliación La Gloria, La Gloria and the subdivisions of Paraíso and Mar Turquesa.

On behalf of the residents of the Caridad del Cobre neighborhood, María Jesús Tamayo Avilés, thanked the mayor for taking them into account to have better roads and congratulated her for the great work she is doing for the benefit of all the islanders.
