Four escape before engine smoke turned to fire

José María Morelos, Q.R. — José María Morelos firemen were able to extinguish an engine fire Sunday but not save the car. The entire front half of the old Tsuru was consumed by flames after a Sunday morning engine fire.

The owner requested help from firemen around 11:00 a.m. after flames began to shoot out from under the hood. The owner of the car was driving along the main avenue of José María Morelos with three passengers when his engine began to smoke.

The smoke quickly turned to flames. By the time firemen arrived, the entire front half of the car was burning. All four inside the car made it out safely. The engine, windshield, dash and front two-seat section of the car was destroyed in the fire.
