Former Cozumel music teacher sentenced to 30 years for rape and sexual extortion

Cozumel, Q.R. — A former Cozumel music teacher has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for rape and sexual extortion. On Sunday, the FGE of Quintana Roo reported on the sentence that will see Erath “J” remain behind bars.

In their report, the FGE said prosecutors presented compelling evidence of the events that occurred in 2011 in a house in the municipality of Solidaridad. Erath “J” was finally captured in 2020 by police.

Erath “J” was related to nine crimes of rape, sexual abuse and corruption of minors. According to the FGE investigations, Erath “J” took advantage of his knowledge and their love of music to gain the trust of the victims, “which allowed daily coexistence, and later sexually abused them when they were minors.”

According to the FGE, in some cases, Erath “J” recorded criminal acts of the plaintiffs to later demand that they have sexual relations with him in exchange for not broadcasting the videos. A Solidaridad judge has sentenced Erath “J” to 30 years in prison.
