Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The first stone for the construction of a police quarters on the island in the municipality of Isla Mujeres has been laid. On Thursday, municipal mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde laid the first stone during an inauguration ceremony.
During the ceremony, she said the new quarters will be constructed for the island officers in order to provide them with work spaces appropriate to their functions to advance security on the island.
She thanked them for their effort and dedication in the construction of a safe municipality in which peace and tranquility predominate, adding that the goals set in the field of security will be achieved, a strategic area that the past administration left completely abandoned.
She said the new police quarters will be fully equipped with sleeping quarters, laundry and kitchen so Isla Mujeres officers who live on the mainland will not have not to cross to and from the island for their shift.
Mayor Gómez Ricalde did not provide an approximate completion date or location for the construction of the island police station.
