FGE of Quintana Roo investigating their own hack

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Thousands of files belonging to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) have been leaked after an online hack. The FGE of Quintana Roo was victim to the hack by a group who posted around 7,900 of the agency’s legal complaints online.

The FGE has said that they have begun an investigation into their hack, which lead to 7,910 files being downloaded during the cyber attack. They reported the hack originated from a group identified as Sc0rp10n.

The leaked FGE documents range from reports of lost or stolen documents to thefts and threats dating back to 2020. The group who hacked the FGE site downloaded the 7,910 PDF documents then uploaded them as compressed files to their own site for public viewing with the message “from this link you can download all the files of the complaints of the Prosecutor’s Office.”

On Thursday, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) of Quintana Roo posted “the FGE Quintana Roo reports that it initiated an investigation for the theft of registration forms of online complaints filed digitally before this autonomous body.

“The complaint forms refer to loss of documents, petty theft and threats, among others. The other computer systems of the Public Prosecutor’s Office continue to function with the necessary security and the information is not at risk.”
