Cancun, Q.R. — Quintana Roo authorities say 33 high risk prisoners from Chetumal have been transferred to other parts of the country. On Thursday night, the group of 33 were removed from the Center for Social Readaptation (CERESO) in Chetumal and driven to Cancun by bus where they boarded a waiting plane.
From there, they were distributed to other prisons in the country.
Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez, the Secretariat of Public Security of Quintana Roo said that the prisoners were transferred, “in accordance with the strictest adherence to law and rigorous respect for human rights,” adding that the selected inmates require special security and surveillance.
