Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) has confirmed that expansion in the Isla Mujeres terminal will be complete by mid-March.
Rosa Elena Ríos Fernández, director of operations at Isla Mujeres, says that currently, progress stands at 94 percent and that la Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) anticipates it will be complete by March 15.
More than 250 square meters has been added in two area of the terminal, which Ríos Fernández says, is intended to expand and improve the condition within the terminal, adding that the interconnection of the areas will be more efficient in handling daily passengers who come and go from the island.
The ferry terminal upgrade, which began in November, was due for completion in January, however, bad weather delayed the project. Apiqroo says the expansion is an investment of more than 5.4 million peso.
