Elderly cruise ship passenger rushed to Cancun hospital from Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An 86-year-old man was rushed to Cancun hospital from a US cruise ship Monday due to a heart condition. Mexican Navy personnel met the ship approximately eight nautical miles (14.8 kilometers) northeast of Isla Mujeres.

Through a statement, the Secretary of the Navy said that they received a call for help in the Command and Control Room of the Ninth Naval Region regarding an 86-year-old passenger.

Personnel from the Isla Mujeres Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) met the ship and transferred the man to a waiting ambulance at Puerto Juárez from where he was transferred to Cancun hospital. His condition is unknown.
