Cozumel, Q.R. — An elderly islander swimming with her daughter Friday drowned near Playa Las Rocas. Emergency services were sent to the rocky beach area near a set of condominiums where she was found dead.
Preliminary reports say the woman was swimming with her daughter Friday afternoon when both were swept out to sea. Lifeguard Alejandro P carried out the rescue of both women who he reported, were located around 300 meters from Playa Las Rocas.
The elderly woman was given CPR upon returning to the beach, but was unresponsive. The deceased has been identified as 90-year-old Maria B. Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) were called to remove the body.
