José María Morelos, Q.R. — The driver of a private vehicle was found dead after a Friday afternoon rollover. His passenger was alive but with injuries. The accident happened on a notoriously dangerous corner of the municipality’s highway system.
The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. at kilometer 152 on the Polyuc-José María Morelos stretch. The driver of the pickup truck lost control when trying to avoid a trailer coming in the opposite direction.
The vehicle rolled over several times and ended upside down in shoulder vegetation.
Witnesses to the accident reported seeing a semi cross into the lane of the pickup truck. When trying to avoid it, the driver lost control due to wet pavement, resulting in the deadly rollover.
Paramedics from the José María Morelos fire department responded to reports of the accident. Inside they found the driver had been crushed by the weight of his vehicle. He has not been publicly identified.
