Nuevo Xcan, Q.R. — The driver of a water truck was nearly killed Thursday after overturning his unit. Emergency personnel from the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas attended to the highway report of the accident near the community of Nuevo Xcan.
Inside the cab of the full length unit was the trapped driver. He was rescued alive and rushed to hospital with critical injuries. National Guard highway elements and municipal firemen located the large overturned unit in highway vegetation. The accident happened on a stretch of road that leads from Cancun to Merida. The cab was crushed inward from the weight of its load.
It is not known how the driver lost control and rolled the truck.
