Mexico City, Mexico — A transport trailer traveling along the Lechería-Texcoco highway managed to topple a high voltage electrical tower, cutting power to thousands and leaving traffic at a standstill.
The electrical tower, which belonged to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), was ripped from its base, which resulted in it falling across the highway and resting on top of the tractor trailer unit.
Civil Protection, along with police and fire, were on hand to close traffic and estimate the best course of action. Personnel of of the Urban Rescue and the Fire Department worked in the area in coordination with CFE personnel to remove the driver and upright the toppled tower.
Miraculously, the driver of the trailer was uninjured when he somehow hit the bast of the tower, causing it to fall on his unit. Traffic was rerouted for serveral hours while emergency officials were on scene.
