Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A developer has applied to construct a new five-story apartment complex on Isla Mujeres. According to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), the building would be built on 16 de Septiembre Street of the island.
“The polygon where the project is planned to be carried out includes the property with official address: Supermanzana 003, Block 084, Lot 014, 16 de septiembre street, number 218, Colonia Electricista, Insular Zone, Isla Mujeres Municipality, Quintana Roo,” the Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Semarnat) reported.
The project, Eleva Isla Mujeres (Eleva Island), is a 5-story building with three apartments on each level, which adds up to 15 apartments in total, they detailed.
“The condominium will operate the platform (walkway) in the federal maritime-terrestrial zone and the two existing docks. (Existing works sanctioned by PROFEPA), as it involves the construction and sale of apartments (housing), it belongs to the tertiary sector,” they added.
The file was integrated into the Gaceta ecológica on September 10, 2024. The developer and Semarnat continue with the procedure to have the project approved.
