Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A woman diagnosed with liver failure was transferred from a cruise ship to Cancun hospital. The Secretariat of the Marina performed the medical emergency transfer Tuesday.
“Personnel from the Ninth Naval Region carried out the medical evacuation of a female person on board a tourist cruise ship approximately five nautical miles (nine kilometers) northeast of Isla Mujeres,” the Secretaría de Marina (Semar) reported.
“This action was carried out after receiving an emergency call in the Command and Control Room of the Naval Command in which support was requested for the transfer of a 46-year-old female person of foreign nationality, who had liver failure.
“A defender-type vessel from the Isla Mujeres Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Naval Station was ordered to set sail immediately, with specialized personnel on board.
“Upon arriving at the emergency point, they carried out a medical check-up and evacuation of the woman who was transferred to Puerto Juárez, where an ambulance was waiting.”
