Cozumel, Q.R. — Municipal Police responded to reports of two Cozumel fishermen who became lost. On Tuesday afternoon, elements of the Public Security Directorate that were traveling along the southern coast received a request for assistance.
According to Policía Cozumel, “the two fishermen were searched for on land after officers received a second report at 3:45 p.m. indicating that inside the Punta Sur park, personnel had had contact with two fishermen.”
Cozumel police began a second search after their first search at 3:00 p.m. did not locate the two missing men.
After the 3:45 p.m. report, police spoke with the park manager who said he had seen the two fishermen who became lost after their boat Isis II, was dragged by the sea current. The two men were left stranded on a sand bar near the shore of a beach in Punta Sur.
Both men, aged 29 and 14, were found without injuries. They were also reunited with their vessel on the north of the island.
