Cozumel, Q.R. — An early Sunday morning shooting in Cozumel has claimed the life of a young man. The shooting was reported between 125th Avenue and 3 Street South, where a few days ago, an attempt was made against the same person.
Cozumel Municipal Police responded to the 3:00 a.m. report of a shot person laying on a step outside a home in the Juan Bautista Vega neighborhood. Paramedics were called, but arrived only to confirm the death of the mid-20-year old male.
Cozumel Municipal Police Commander Miguel Juárez reported the call came in through 911 after neighbors heard several gunshots. When officers arrived, they found the victim laying face down on the concrete steps.
Six shell casings were collected from the scene. Eyewitnesses told police that the man was shot from a moving vehicle. The deceased man has not been publicly identified.
