Cozumel, Q.R. — In a mega operation that involved the search of two island businesses, nearly two dozen people were arrested. On Thursday afternoon, Cozumel police searched a motorcycle rental shop and a tattoo parlor, both of which are located on 7th Street South.
During their 2:00 p.m. search, authorities seized several hundred street sized bags of narcotics, a majority of which, were reported to be cocaine. During the raid, 21 people were reported arrested with only four being kept in custody and three charged with drug offences.
The operation that involved various police agencies and the National Guard was the result of numerous citizen complaints about drug sales in the area by people disguised as tourist sales personnel.
