Cozumel, Q.R. — Work on several sections of a coastal bike path on the island of Cozumel continues reports its mayor Juanita Alonso Marrufo. She says the eastern coast bike path has suffered damage from tropical storms and landslides that have hit the island.
In a statement, the director of Public Works, Carlos Daniel Pomol Gómez, explained that four sections of the bike path are being repaired. The repair project is being carried out by tender winner Arqcoz SA de CV and with resources from the Fund of Contributions for the Strengthening of the Federative Entities (FAFEF).
Arqcoz,SA de CV is repairing the path in four different areas near Playa Bonita. “In the zones, the construction of 3,134.54 cubic meters is carried out with stone, while in 1,119 square meters, hydraulic-based filling is applied in layers of 20 centimeters,” the city detailed in their public statement.
The City of Cozumel also pointed out that the work is being done in consideration of sea turtle season, and is following the established guidelines to avoid interfering with the nesting cycle of the turtles.
