City Council approves 173 million Annual Investment Program for Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Isla Mujeres City Council has approved the 2025 Annual Investment Program with a budget of over 173 million pesos. Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde said thanks to financial discipline and commitment, the money will be used to transform the municipality and address the social demands of its citizens.

Gómez Ricalde said more than 70 percent of the resources come from the municipality’s own resources, ensuring a responsible and solid investment.

This plan prioritizes projects that improve basic infrastructure such as street lighting, paving, sports facilities and waterworks, driven by citizen participation processes. The investment seeks to reduce inequality gaps, promote social justice and strengthen sustainable growth throughout the municipality.

During the 18th Council Session, the amendment to the Annual Investment Program was ratified with actions that seek to improve the quality of life for all residents, with projects that also benefit tourism development and the beautification of the destination, she said.

The plan also adheres to the National Water Plan, promoting preventive infrastructure, the construction of absorption wells and stormwater drainage sumps, ensuring orderly and sustainable development. With a participatory design, the projects respond to the real needs of the population, promoting social justice and active participation.

In this way, the Government of Isla Mujeres continues to invest responsibly and transparently, benefiting its entire community, reinforcing its commitment to building a more just, safe, and opportunity-filled municipality for all its inhabitants.
