Chetumal school maintenance worker sentenced to prison for touching students

Chetumal, Q.R. — A former maintenance worker has been sentenced after being found guilty of sexually abusing two students. Felipe de Jesús “N” has been sentenced to nearly seven years in prison for two convictions of sexual abuse.

The Chetumal judge handed down the sentence Tuesday. In intermediate hearings, the judge sentenced him to two years and 8 months in prison in the first case and four years for the second as well as damages.

The charges date back to 2020 when Felipe de Jesús “N” worked maintenance in a school in the Proterritorio neighborhood of Chetumal. He was found guilty of “touching a girl” inside the school in 2020 and again — the same school but different student — in 2022.

“Following the complaints presented by relatives of the victims, agents of the Investigative Police and expert personnel carried out the pertinent procedures that allowed the judicialization of both investigations,” the state prosecutor reported.

Through the presentation of test data that confirmed the elements of the crime of sexual abuse by Felipe de Jesús “N”, who accepted his responsibility in both cases, and in accordance with the procedures established by law, the judicial authority established the sentence of 2 years and 8 months in prison in the first case, and the sentence of four years for the second case.”
