Chetumal, Q. R. — Authorities in Chetumal were tasked with figuring out who drove a car into a body of water before getting out and leaving.
Police located the abandoned car in the Nuevo Progreso neighborhood Monday morning after area residents reported seeing it submerged to the roof.
When authorities arrived in response to the 8:00 a.m. call, they found it with three of the four doors left opened. The very tops of the doors and the car’s roof were all that was visible from the road.
The car, once pulled out, was revealed to be a white Jetta. Firemen were part of the response team to the submerged car on Octual Street. Area residents who claim to have witnessed the incident reported seeing people emerge from the car after driving it into the water.
A tow truck pulled the vehicle out and towed it to the corral from where police will attempt to find the owner.
