Cancun tourist dies on Isla Mujeres after snorkeling expedition

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Island officers closed part of an Isla Mujeres sidewalk Sunday after a man died. The 57 year old male was part of a snorkeling expedition from Cancun when he is reported to have felt ill.

The Captain of the boat made an emergency docking on central Isla Mujeres from where the man got out of the boat. He made it only a few steps before falling to the ground.

The incident happened Sunday shortly after the group of tourists from Cancun finished a morning of snorkeling. The unnamed man was pronounced dead by responding paramedics. He is believed to have suffered a heart attack, however, an autopsy will determine the official cause.
