Cancun, Q.R. — Although no injuries were reported, the majority of a Cancun restaurant was reduced to ash in a fire. On Wednesday afternoon, Cancun firemen doused what was left of the restaurant with water in an attempt to avoid more flames.
According to the Cancun Fire Department, they responded to public reports of a fire inside Restaurant la Vietnamita (Pho’King) on Avenida Huayacán. The fire happened around 4:00 p.m. when two palapas began to smolder.
Within minutes, the smolder burst into flames that quickly ate away at the grass topped roofs. Those inside were able to get out without incident. Traffic was backed up due to the presence of rescue teams, fire trucks and ambulances.
