Cancun mayor says remodeling of Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard a reality

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun Mayor Mara Lezama Espinosa has reported the reconstruction of Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard as a reality. The mayor says the city has the support of federal authorities who will help see the boulevard, the main entrance into Cancun, completely made over.

“It is a project of great depth with a historical investment, because we have the unconditional support of our President Andrés Manuel López Obrador,” she said in a video message.

“It has been many months. We have worked a lot with the government of Mexico and today, everything is ready for a complete rehabilitation and modernization of the entrance to our city,” she added.

“It is an important project for tourism, for economic development, but above all, for those of us who live here, for students, for those who work in other municipalities but who live here and their families are here,” she said.

“It is the main entrance to the most important tourist destination in Mexico and Latin America. One of the most important in the world. It has been many many months of management, but the remodeling of this road that you travel every day will be a reality,” she added.

Colosio Boulevard is a main artery that connects the city center of Cancun with the airport and Riviera Maya. One of the largest aspects of the remodel project will be the removal of the overhead power lines. The remodel will also see the removal of old buildings and the addition of sidewalks and green spaces.
