Cancun firemen free trapped driver from totaled car

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen were requested at the scene of an accident to remove a trapped driver. The male driver of the car required assistance in being removed from his totaled vehicle after he crashed into another car and then into a CFE pole.

The accident happened Friday evening on Avenida Huayacán in Cancun. The driver of the speeding Mercedes slammed into the rear of a car ahead of him before crashing into the concrete pole. The impact knocked the pole down, taking out a set of power lines.

Police and firemen were at the scene with paramedics who treated the man before transferring him to hospital. CFE personnel arrived to install a new pole and reconnect the lines.

Several residential areas were without electricity due to the accident. Transit Police were still trying to determine the exact cause of the crash.
