Cancun, Q.R. — A man found carrying 30,000 Euros in cash was detained at Cancun International. On Wednesday, a man who had landed at Terminal 2 of Cancun International was arrested on an arriving flight from Cuba.
National Guard agents made the arrest after personnel from the National Customs Agency of Mexico located the cash. According to the National Guard statement, “a foreign person tried to enter the country with 30,000 Euros in cash without declaring it with the corresponding tax authorities.”
Customs Agents in Terminal 2 of the Cancun International Airport found the cash in luggage belonging to a man who had arrived on a commercial flight from Havana, Cuba.
The currency was found in a fanny pack. Customs “found several wads of bills of different denominations. A thorough inspection was carried out in which 30,000 Euros were found in bills of denominations of 50, 100 and 200, which is equivalent to more than half a million Mexican pesos.”
