Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A high pressure water leak on the island of Isla Mujeres Saturday has been repaired. The bubbling leak caught the attention of late morning islanders circulating along Bravo Avenue.
In less than an hour, the cobblestone street began to flood as the high pressure from the cracked line below forced water to the surface. The pressure below caused the water to bubble in several areas between the stones.
The leak was located in the middle of the island in an area where road remodeling was recently done. Unfortunately a section of the newly laid cobblestone had to be removed to make the repair.
Water ran from the intersection of Bravo and Hidalgo to Rueda Medina Avenue where it pooled near the Maritime Terminal. Police were the first to respond to reports of the leak who arrived to section off the bubbling area.
Island carts and motos were diverted to Juarez Avenue due to the leak. The first square of the town was left without water for several hours while Aguakan made the repair.
“We have successfully completed the repair of a drinking water leak in the center of the island on Avenida Bravo. We are gradually restoring the water supply,” they posted late Saturday afternoon.
