Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Emergency services have retrieved the body of a deceased male from the cliffs of Punta Sur at Isla Mujeres.
Emergency 911 received the call of a lifeless man in the water off the cliffs of Punta Sur, activating rescue protocol.
A statement by Protección Civil Isla Mujeres reports “In response to the report of the lifeless body of a man on the cliffs of Punta Sur, elements of Civil Protection and the Fire Department, in coordination with the Red Cross and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), carried out the rescue efforts of the body in that area.”
Merced Ortiz Maya, director of Civil Protection, said that until the corresponding autopsy is preformed, the official cause of the death of the man will remain unknown. The deceased male is said to be of foreign nationality and between the ages of 50 and 60 years.
