Cozumel, Q.R. — The body of a man found Monday near Cozumel CAPA facilities is reported to have died from natural causes. On Sunday afternoon, the body of the man was located on the CAPA property.
An autopsy has since revealed the 40 to 50 year old man died of a heart attack. His body was found by a passersby shortly after 1:00 p.m. Sunday inside the Drinking Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA) facilities along the highway.
Cozumel mayor Juanita Alonso confirmed the report made by the medical examiner regaridng the man’s natural death.
“The report that we have so far is that it was a heart attack that this person suffered,” she said adding that an investigation is in progress and therefore, it will be the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office who will determine the final report.
The now-deceased man has not been publicly identified. Authorities have not said if he was a CAPA employee or area resident.
