Argentinian tourist dies of heart attack during Isla Mujeres tour

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An Argentinian tourist died off an Isla Mujeres beach Saturday while on a tour. The 77-year-old man was part of a boat tour when he suddenly fainted in the water.

According to Isla Mujeres Police, the man was part of a Saturday tour belonging to the Obi Kue 3 boat. While in shallow water, he fainted and became unconscious. The boat’s guide and other tourists helped get him to the beach.

Although CPR was applied, the man was unresponsive to resuscitation attempts. Responding paramedics officially pronounced him on scene. The now-deceased has been identified as 77-year-old José “N” of Argentina.

Preliminary reports indicate that the cause of death was a possible heart attack.
