Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Another makeshift vessel has been reported landed off the island of Isla Mujeres. The tiny boat is suspected to have made landfall sometime Tuesday morning.
The abandoned boat El Leal was found among rocks south of the Caracol house. Equipped with an improvised sail, rudder and additional internal propulsion, it remained wedged between rocks where it was eventually found by locals and reported to police.
Around the site authorities found scattered clothing, backpacks, bags, toothbrushes and other belongings for several meters with no trace of those believed to have arrived.
It is the latest in nearly a dozen boats that have quietly made landfall along various areas of the island of Isla Mujeres this year. Island police have not commented on this latest abandoned boat discovery.
