Anonymous tip gets five women jailed after leaving Cancun with wad of counterfeit cash

Cancun, Q.R. — Chiapas officials have arrested five women for being in possession of counterfeit cash. According to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) of Chiapas, authorities were tipped off through an anonymous complaint who alerted them to a car with the five women traveling with the counterfeit money.

According to the tip, the women had left Cancun and were headed to Villahermosa, Tabasco. Police were able to intercept the car in the municipality of Catazajá, in the state of Chiapas.

Inside the car were the five women described. Police began a physical inspection of their vehicle. Under the hood against the engine was a hidden compartment. Inside that was a plastic bag where they found 77,500 pesos in counterfeit bills.

Police proceeded to arrest Nalleli “V”, Fernanda “O”, Cecilia “V”, Marisol “L” and Janeth “M”, who have since been transferred to the Federal Prosecutor of Chiapas.
