Cozumel, Q.R. — A group of Cozumel hotel workers protested Tuesday to not have their contract handled by the Confederación de Trabajadores de México (CTM).
Angry hotel workers expressed their dissatisfaction at working conditions, demanding that their contracts will be turned over to Confederación Revolucionaria de Obreros y Campesinos (CROC).
The workers made the demand after they learned the collective bargaining agreement was granted the CTM. Instead, hotel employees want to be recognized through CROC.
Carmen Cruz Zúñiga of CROC Cozumel, said her union has been concerned about their working conditions, adding that workers are not provided with transparent treatment regarding the hotel tips they are given or with the union fees they pay.
