Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An American woman who suffered a health issue was evacuated from a Carnival cruise ship Monday. The unnamed woman was medically evacuated from a Carnival Vista ship after Isla Mujeres authorities received the request.
Personnel from the Secretary of the Navy from the Ninth Naval Region carried out the medical evacuation approximately 10 nautical miles (18.5 kilometers) north of Isla Mujeres.
The woman was medically evacuated after a cruise ship doctor determined she had a thrombosis (blood clot) in her right leg. The woman was returned to land at Puerto Juárez where an ambulance was waiting to transfer her to Cancun hospital.
