Isla Mujeres, Q. R. — A 73 year old American man has been admitted to Cancun hospital after suffering heart problems while enjoying a cruise. On Monday, the man was transferred from the ship onto a Navy vessel for transport to the mainland to a waiting ambulance.
The elderly man was removed from the cruise ship 3.7 kilometers northeast of Isla Mujeres and admitted to Cancun hospital after the ship requested the nighttime medical evacuation.
Special medical personnel from the 9th Naval Region rescue team evacuated the 73-year-old American passenger from the ship to a waiting ambulance at Puerto Juárez from where he continued his transfer to hospital by land.
