American cruise passenger from Carnival Valor rushed to Cancun hospital

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An American woman who suffered a stroke during a cruise was rushed to Cancun hospital. On Wednesday morning, Mexican Marina personnel were requested by a waiting cruise ship off the island of Isla Mujeres for a medical evacuation.

Cruise ship Carnival Valor made the distress call regarding one of its passengers. A specialized team of Marina medical personnel met the ship for the transfer of the 54 year old cruise passenger.

The American woman was transferred from the ship onto a Marina vessel for a land transfer after a ship doctor reported she suffered a cerebrovascular accident. She was taken by water to the mainland of Puerto Juárez to a waiting ambulance.

From the Puerto Juárez mainland, she was rushed to a Cancun hospital by a private ambulance for specialized medical care.
