Advancements being made on new Isla Mujeres naval hospital

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Secretary of the Navy says the naval hospital being built on Isla Mujeres is advancing. In a statement, the Navy reported that a lack of medical infrastructure has been a constant concern for islanders.

To ease that concern, a hospital is being built that, when complete, will include an emergency area, hyperbaric chamber, 12 general medical offices, an operating room for general and obstetric surgery, laboratory services and a dozen beds.

The four-story hospital is being constructed along Boca Limbo Street in the Salina Grande neighborhood near the center of the island. The military hospital is in an area that is attached to other Navy property. They did not provide an estimated date for completion.
