Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The body of a hawksbill sea turtle was removed from a seawall area of Isla Mujeres over the weekend. The lifeless adult turtle was found without any obvious trauma.
According to biologist Deline García Canto of the Tortugranja conservation center, the turtle appeared to have been deceased for approximately a week due to its advanced state of decomposition.
According to their report, the adult hawksbill measured 70 centimeters long by 50 wide and was found already deceased without traces of violence or boat propellers.
