State successfully connects two to murder of Playa del Carmen police commander in Cancun court

Cancun, Q.R. — The General Prosecutor of the State of Quintana Roo reports that prosecutors have been successful in connecting two men to the murder of Playa del Carmen police commander, José Antonio Archi Yama.

Yama was murdered in September of 2019. He was police commander in Playa del Carmen but lived in Cancun. He was kidnapped from the front of his home after returning to Cancun from his job in Playa del Carmen. His body was found several days later.

La Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo say Henry L and Jorge E have been found connected to the homicide of the commander. The presiding judge ordered both to remain in preventative detention. Three others are currently facing criminal proceedings against the death of Yama.

The State Attorney General says they continue to investigate to locate and capture all those who likely participated in his killing. In the recent arrest of 10 in two separate operations in Cancun, police reported finding tactical gear belonging to the former commander.
