SRE head, Marcelo Ebrard listed as presidential candidate for 2024

Mexico City, Mexico — The Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE), Marcelo Ebrard says that he will seek the presidency for Mexico in 2024. Ebrard has confirmed that he is interested in the Presidency of the Republic for the next federal elections of 2024, when the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador ends.

During an interview with Joaquín López Dóriga, he thanked the president for mentioning him on the list of presidential candidates to take his place.

“I am very grateful to the President for having clearly named me on that list that he has made known. What the president does is to put on the table who he thinks has done a job that deserves to be, or can be considered in the 2024 process,” said the chancellor.

Ebrard Casaubón mentioned that he is interested in reaching the Presidency, but commented that it is still too premature to touch on the issue since he and his collaborators must focus on the current responsibilities. However, within the next two and a half years, they will fully focus on the issue.

“This will be in two years. We are in the middle of the government. Of course, of course I am interested and of course it has been a life commitment, but I ask you to be clear that what we have to do right now is to move forward with our responsibilities and within two years, or when we are called to participate, we will be there,” he said.
