Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man accused of shooting a Playa del Carmen police officer has had his day in court. The man, identified as José N, was arrested shortly after the shooting of the officer Friday morning as he was leaving his home for work.
The man accused of the shooting was located traveling in a taxi. The taxi was stopped and the man, detained. However, police found the taxi driver in possession of 53 bags of pot and 20,000 in cash. He too, was taken into police custody.
José N was arrested for the shooting of a Municipal Police agent. The agent was hit by a bullet while driving his scooter. He was on his way to work when he was shot. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.
