LP gas driver burned from exploding tank on truck

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — The driver of a LP gas truck was treated for third degree burns after a leaky tank exploded. Paramedics treated the man Wednesday in a Puerto Aventuras neighborhood.

According to preliminary information, the man was driving an LP truck of refillable cylinders when one tank began to leak. While trying to contain the leak, the seeping gas ignited and he was burned.

The incident happened in Puerto Maya around noon. Seguridad Pública Solidaridad reported on the accident.

“The Secretariat of Public Security and Municipal Transit of Solidaridad reports the explosion of an LP gas tank from a gas truck.

“It was in Puerto Maya. The driver is injured with third-degree burns after he tried to contain the leak from the van. In the place there are municipal police of Solidaridad, firefighters, Civil Protection and a medical unit.”

The unnamed company driver received third degree burns around his abdomen. His current health condition is unknown.
