Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — A highway worker was killed on the job Friday after being hit by a heavy unit that was backing up. The worker was standing bent over behind a parked dump truck when a second dump truck backed up into him.
The man was pinned between the two units. He suffered severe head injuries and died on the scene. The accident happened Friday afternoon in the community of Carlos A. Madrazo in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
The driver of the second unit reportedly failed to notice the bent over worker as he backed up. The workman’s head became trapped between both vehicles. Despite attempts by others to help, the worker died at the scene.
He was taken to a nearby hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
