Maya Train News — More than 240,000 square meters of land has been decreed as public utility by the federal government. On May 26, the government published a decree that claims 51 privately owned properties for Maya Train use.
The 51 properties are located in both the state of Quintana Roo and the neighboring state of Yucatan.
In Yucatan, the properties are located in the municipalities of Sudzal, Kantunil, Tinum, Uayma, Valladolid and Chemax, while in Quintana Roo, the properties expropriated are in Lázaro Cárdenas and Puerto Morelos.
“DECLARATION of cause of public utility related to 242,627.34 M² corresponding to 51 privately owned properties in the municipalities of Sudzal, Kantunil, Tinum, Uayma, Valladolid, Chemax, in the State of Yucatán and in the municipalities of Lázaro Cárdenas and Puerto Morelos in the State of Quintana Roo, which will be used for the construction of public infrastructure works related to the Maya Train Project.
While the decree did not provide details regarding the upcoming use of the land, it did say that the properties will be used for section 4 Maya Train infrastructure.
These latest properties are only some of a long list of privately owned properties that have been expropriated by the federal government for the Maya Train project.
Earlier this month, two plots of private land in the municipality of in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco were expropriated by the government.
