Four killed in ordered hit for failed Costa Maya drug delivery

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Four men in the Mayan community of X-Hazil Sur were shot to death early Monday. Municipal authorities of Felipe Carrillo Puerto were sent to a home in the normally quiet community where they found four dead bodies.

The men were sitting on an outside patio of a private home they shared when the attack took place. Armed men arrived at the home where they opened fire against all four.

Two were found shot dead on the patio while the other two ran and were found dead near the property. The 9-1-1 emergency call to police was made by a woman from inside the home.

According to the call, the woman said the men entered the patio shouting that they were ‘from the prosecutor’s office’ and ordered the men ‘to not move’ as they began shooting.

Wendolin “H”, Abraham “H”, Jesús “N” and a fourth unidentified man were killed. Those responsible for the attack fled on foot into the cover of darkness.

Municipal Police were accompanied by National Guard responding to the shooting. The deadly attack is reported to have been related to a Costa Maya shipment of drugs by the Caborca Cartel that was not received and was believed stolen by the men killed.

The ordered hit is believed to have been lead by a cartel member known as Yegua. According to neighbors, at least two of the now-deceased men were known to participate in illegal activities.
