Felipe Carrillo Puerto firemen respond to burning palm tree in residential back yard

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Firemen in Felipe Carrillo Puerto were called to the back yard of a private home to put out a burning palm tree. On Saturday, municipal firemen were called to the Juan Bautista Vega neighborhood by residents who feared the fire may spread to their homes.

Police and firemen rushed to the 64th Street location where they found the burning tree. According to early information, the palm tree caught fire after one of the area residents sent an intentional fire to burn their garbage.

Neighbors said within a matter of minutes, the garbage fire spread to the tree, which also began to burn very quickly. The fire department was called to contain the fire and stop flames from spreading to the nearby homes.
