Federal fishing inspectors seize boat and gear from Holbox waters

Holbox, Q.R. — Navy personnel seized a boat and fishing equipment in Holbox waters after those on board were found without permits. The Secretary of the Navy reported that personnel from the Ninth Naval Region made the seizure Thursday.

The seizure of the boat and gear was done in collaboration with federal inspectors from the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (CONAPESCA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

“This action was carried out during a maritime tour when inspecting a smaller vessel named Ligia, which was carrying out fishing activities without the corresponding permit.

Federal inspectors located the illegal vessel in Holbox waters Thursday morning.
