Facebook claims of 2 positive coronavirus cases for Isla Mujeres false, say health officials

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — On Monday, health authorities from the municipality of Isla Mujeres clarified that a social media claim of two positive coronavirus cases are false.

Leily Osorio Mares, director of the Isla Mujeres Community Hospital explained that the Facebook claim of two cases of coronavirus for Isla Mujeres are completely fake, noting that Monday, the Ministry of Health released the latest coronavirus figures for the state in which the municipality of Isla Mujeres remains at zero.

Xhanat Tze González Mora, current liaison for preventive actions against the coronavirus said that Isla Mujeres mayor Juan Carrillo Soberanis is aware of the situation and is doubling down on prevention and hygiene measures. González Mora said that close collaboration has been maintained with authorities to address the problem that is affecting everyone.

The mayor has asked the community to stay informed through official media and not fall for rumors that only encourage disorder.
