Engine failure forces plane to land on Zihuatanejo beach

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Guerrero — Mechanical failure is the said reason for a small plane landing on a public beach in Guerrero. On Monday, Civil Protection responded to the incident of what was called a forced landing on a public beach.

The small Cessna was forced to make an emergency landing on Playa Linda Monday morning in the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo resort. Only the pilot and co-pilot were on board when the plane was forced down.

According to authorities, the aircraft landed due to engine mechanical failure. The small plane had just taken off from the Acapulco International Airport and was heading to the state of Michoacán, when they were forced to land.

The incident was reported to 911 by several motorists who were traveling along the Zihuatanejo-Acapulco federal highway.

Civil Protection confirmed no injures as did Ixtapa Zihuatanejo mayor Jorge Sánchez, who reported on social media that “the fall of the plane in Playa Linda was due to a mechanical failure, and that fortunately, no people were injured or killed.”
