Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — After a tour of facilities in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, elements of the National Guard announced they will have an operations centre in the town.
Several facilities were proposed by municipal president José Esquivel Vargas as the potential new Guardia Nacional operations centre.
After the tour, the mayor explained that coordinated work is key to public security actions and with the support of state and municipal police, as well as the Secretaria de la Defensa Nacional (SEDENA), they will strengthen security of the town.
The tour was made hours before a citizen march was held in protest of insecurity in the municipality. Hundreds of residents took to the streets of Felipe Carrillo Puerto in a peaceful march requesting authorities deal with the criminal activity that has seen an increase on their streets.
